         JIM DUBOIS       PHOTOGRAPHER

Jim spent most of his working life as a commercial fisherman along the inner and outer coasts of BC and Vancouver Island. A love of the business, and of the part of the world he was lucky enough to live and work in, trained him as a keen observer of the natural world. This, in combination with the other trait that fishing developed, has helped considerably with his photography. Jim has the patience of a corpse, and will contentedly sit and watch birds or wildlife for extended periods of time, waiting for something of interest to happen. If one remains quiet long enough, wild things have a tendency to ignore you, and to go about their natural lives. This can lead to some wonderful opportunities. Being retired, Jim can afford the time, and spends some of it as an Eagle nest monitor. An avid amateur naturalist, he also participates in local bird counts and population surveys. Jim's photographs have been published in various newspapers, a book on atmospheric phenomena, and on several non-profit group's websites at no charge as educational tools. He is passionate about using his photography to help people re-connect with nature, and to instill in them a love and respect for the amazing beauty around them everywhere here.
